Arch Hill

About:

Opened in 2010, these are the closest trails to the CBD (5km riding distance), nearly 2kms of trail, from the easy grade “Training Wheels” to the challenging “Twist and Shout”

How to get there:

By car, exit the North Western Motorway at Western Springs, turn onto Great North Rd for a short distance, right onto Turangi Road, left on to Ivanhoe, then carry on straight to Tay St. Park near the reserve entrance.

By Car, ride along Great North Road to the intersection of Gt North Road and Turangi Road, follow directions above. Once at the park entrance follow the path up, you’ll see the map board on the right.

Trails:

MTB EasyTraining wheels

The lower loop, starts behind the map board, approx 600m, easy grade trail winding next to the motorway.

The upper loop, 1.1km, starting to the left of the map board, as the name suggest this is tight and twisty, great mid week challenge for your skills close to home.

  1. I’ve just ridden this the last two weekends – after some good track maintenance work (thank you Peter and the boys!) it is riding brilliantly. The muddy patches have been dealt to, the tight bends given some berm treatment, and there has been some good crushed rock spread about. Give it a day to dry out after rain and enjoy. Apparently there is another track maintenance day planned for early December (? the 8th), I’ll update this when I know the details.
