Opened in 2010, these are the closest trails to the CBD (5km riding distance). With over 3km of well maintained trails ranging in grade from “Training Wheels” for beginners, to the challenging “Steep Street” for those who want to test their fitness, to Super Highway for those who prefer gravity to get them moving – there is something for everyone.
The Arch Hill MTB Team is responsible for building and maintaining the trails, promoting their use and putting on cool events that anyone can be part of. All the work is done by volunteers and we would love for you to join us on a working bee or see you at our events!
Keep up to date with regular group rides, events and working bees on our Facebook Page; https://www.facebook.com/ArchHillMTB
We run regular working bees to keep the trails in top condition as well as planting and rubbish removal days to help get Arch Hill to live up to its “Scenic Reserve” designation. If you would like to help out, follow our facebook page, or see schedule below.
2017 Working Bee Schedule:
We are currently building a brand new trail and need your help!
Saturday 29 July 9.30am-1.00pm
Saturday 12 August 9.30am-1.00pm
Saturday 26 August 9.30am-1.00pm
Meet at the Ivanhoe Road Carpark at 9.30 or else follow the footpath to the other end and find us there at the start of the new trail. Bring your own spade, pickaxe, rake if possible. Wear sturdy shoes (Gumboots would be ideal if it has been raining) and bring gloves. A water bottle and snacks would be good too.
How to get there:
By car, exit the North Western Motorway at Western Springs, turn onto Great North Rd for a short distance, right onto Turangi Road, left on to Ivanhoe, then carry on straight to Tay St. Park near the reserve entrance.
By Car, ride along Great North Road to the intersection of Gt North Road and Turangi Road, follow directions above. Once at the park entrance follow the path up, you’ll see the map board on the right.
