Thanks heaps to Mons Royale and MEC (Mt Eden Cycles) for backing our race Series. They provide us with some great spot prizes – a highlight for most kids!
What a fabulous response from you all. Not just those who came along but also those who stayed home with illness…it is very much appreciated.
Sorry to those who did not read the Event Manual and so were not prepared for what happened on arrival, but luckily it was only a few and the Biosecurity team were really pleased with your efforts to comply. It shows how important it is to read the Event Manual.
Thanks to Reuben, Helena, Sharon, Tom, Brad and Joel who were your parking team and got everyone in place so well. Thanks to them, we were able to start Race 1 only 1 minute later than we had planned.
Thanks to Mark and Jon for getting Course Marshalls briefed and to you, the Course Marshalls, you did a brilliant job to kick us off. Excellent radio manner, great rider support and a really smooth handover to other marshalls.
Riley got the starts away on time and safely. Helen kept us informed on the Mic and thanks Tegan for the great music…everyone loves a bit of Florence and the Machine.
Ali and her Auckland Grammar Team kept us all supplied with hot food and Mat kept the hot drink flowing.
Luke and Ang (Racetime) have invested in a new timing system and are a great supporter of our series. They are able to put results up pretty quickly these days and the provisional ones are down below. I like to go through them to iron out any errors before making them final.
Last, but not least, Chris did a slick job as ever looking after the injured and tired. Hunua is the toughest course for our students but they will heal and can be very proud of what they achieved. Some racing for the first time…what a baptism!
There were many great performances but I want to mention one rider in particular. Given the option of finishing after two grueling laps or going on to complete the third, Ella Somerville (Mt Albert Grammar) carried on and saw it through. You all cheered her across the line. Ella is the reason we do these races.
