Endura MTB Series – Round 2 wrap up

The second race of the Endura mtb series 2011 was held at Hunua over the weekend. Great racing, sweet singletrack, but the weather didn’t come to the party…

R&R Sport Auckland XC MTB Championship

The course at Hunua was very different to the first round at Woodhill… Excellent tight twisty singletrack, that was challenging enough in the dry, then came the rain…Thomas Reynolds racing for the first time in the series stamped his mark on the race, leading from the start, with Graham Norman in second and Matt Treanor in third. There was a change in the order for the Singlespeeders, The Snooze Hound coming home in first place with Matt Andrew putting on a strong finish for second place, another third for Chuck Norris. Expert woman, Raewyn Morrison again led the ladies to victory.

Bike Barn Auckland Challenge

The challenge riders followed the nearly the entire XC course, but then branched off to run the River Trail backwards, tasting the best singletack on offer at Hunua.

For the 15km it was Belinda Clanton taking out the women’s race. Kel Travers, one of the series supporters (Bryton and Nitelights) edging out James Murdie for the win in the men’s.

The 30km race Anna Dahlberg taking out the women’s race again. There was a good battle in the men’s field, Stephane Brindle in first, Shane Hall in second and AKMTB Committee Member in third.
