Committee member Aidan Potter sent through this update on the club’s plans for the Rotorua Moonride event on 14th May:
Auckland Mountain Bike Club will be entering several teams for the Rotorua Moonride this on 14 May 2011. We already have a few teams lined up and I think we can have a big presence at the Moonride this year.
The Moonride is a really good event where you can race as part of a relay team for either 6, 12 or 24 hours or race solo if you want a challenge. It is held in the Whakarewarewa Forest in Rotorua.
All of the Auckland Mountain Bike Club teams will be situated together in the paddock so we will have a really social time during the race. We will set up a marquee with lighting and some form of heating. We will have the club BBQ for hotdogs and also a mechanic on hand to help keep the bikes running. We are also hoping to get some test bikes from a local bike shop for you to try out.
You will need some serious bike lights for the 12 and 24 hour categories, so make sure you can get hold of some before deciding to enter.
|24 hour||Team of 4 or 5||$395|
|12 hour||Team of 4 or 5||$295|
|6 hour||Team of 2 to 5||$195|
Add on $10 per rider to contribute to the cost of lighting, heating and BBQ (or $15 for non club members).
I need to know who is interested in joining a team. Please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org by 15 April and let me know what team you want to be part of:
- 24 hour, 12 hour or 6 hour?
- Competitive racing team, fun fancy dress team, social team, 12 hour women’s team, 12 hour Older Dude’s team (Total team age 200yrs+ so let me know your age).
- Preferred number of riders in your team.
- If you already have a team together, let me know who is in the team and what your team name is.
I will also need the following details:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Date of Birth
- Email Address
- Contact Number
Once I have replies I will put racers in to appropriate teams and let you know. Then you can confirm you still want to race and pay the entry fee.
