On the 10th April, Simon led us around the challenging trails that are accessed from Waharau Regional Park overlooking the stunning Firth of Thames on Auckland’s east coast. It was a tough day out and you’ll find a brief write-up and pictures on the Club Rides page.
For May, Paul Becker has kindly offered to lead us around the technical, challenging trails that can be found at Whitford Forest. If you have never ridden there, or are not sure what trails are available once you get there, come along to this ride – it’s sure to be a fun and tough day out. Ride will be on May 15th with more details to come.
In June, we have a lovely long weekend courtesy of the Queen and her birthday. We’re planning to use those days to hit some of the best trails in the mid-North Island. Basing ourelves in Vegas, we’ll hit the local trails first, possibly taking a scouting trip around the first N-Duro course(s). Sunday we’ll hit the trails at Whirinaki before tackling Taupo trails on Monday morning. I have talked to the Sport of Kings Motel into giving us a group discount so email me if you want to be part of an Auckland MTB Club contingent heading South over Queens Birthday.
