Membership stuff, Monthly rides and cycle lanes

Hello folks,

Newsletter to come soon but here are some quick updates from the big wide world of Auckland mountain biking…..Membership stuff

RnR Sport have come to the party again for the 09/10 membership year and are putting another pack together for us. There will also be a back issue of NZ MTB Rider mag but for next year Spot On Publishing are keen to do a subscription offer again. Thanks chaps 🙂 As soon as the packs are ready for collection I’ll let you know.

Monthly Rides

Ok, this is the really cool news  – we have got our heads together while you’ve been enjoying the festive shenanigans and come up with a great 2010 Monthly Rides schedule. We’ve made it a mixture of rides in and outside of Auckland with some cool new venues and very few of the usual suspects (no Vegas!!). We’ll get the full schedule up online soon but here if the first one:

Whangamata 27/28th Feb. We’re being shown around the trails in the hills around Whanga on Saturday and Sunday with a shorter loop available for the less fit. You can ride either day or both and there are loads of accomodation options. Drop Maurice an email (mailto:kelly.maurice@xtra.co.nz) if you’re struggling to sort any and there’ll be some empty baches available at that time of year too for groups. We’ll advertise ride start times and locations and all you need to do is be there.

Please please note: bring your up to date membership card. We’ll be charging attendance fees of $10-20 but free for members. Why? Because we buy resources, put ride leaders on first aid courses etc that subs pay for. If you are not a member but want to come along then you have to throw some money into the pot. Simple as that 🙂

The ride for March is a big weekend in Whirinaki taking in one the best back country rides in NZ. More details on that and the rest of the monthly rides soon.

Cycle Lanes

Believe it or not, the North Shore cycle lanes have more drivers opposed to them than riders in support of them and help is needed to increase the size of the petition. Go here to sign the petition online if you think they should be kept.

Over and out.
