Meet The Committee

The club is run by a committee of volunteers, elected by the members at the club’s AGM. Read on to find out who the 2012 committee are, and what motivates them to ride.

If you would like to become more involved with the running of the club, or you’re just keen to lend a hand, then please contact us, or have a chat with one of the committee at one of our events or rides.

President – Hayden Russell

For the challenge, adventure, and most of all battling it out on the trails with buddies.

Secretary – Grant Ogilvie

Got into riding about 7 years ago, wondered where else there is to ride a bike apart from Woodhill, rode in the AKMTB Spring Series to ride a few different trails and met a few neat people who conned me into going on the committee and 5 years later I’m still here as Secretary. I realised that if it wasnt for the committee members there wouldn’t be many events to ride in so I got more involved with assisting with events than riding (unfortunately!!). Have got 6 bikes between me and my partner Leanne (I couldnt do half of the stuff without her support!) we just need time to get out and ride!

Treasurer – Warwick Russell

The older I get the better I was! Do something that scares you every day, with your mates. That’s why I ride a MTB. This is me and my mate Bill in the first ever Alpine Epic. We were the long and short of it.

Quartermaster – Michael Stevens

It allows me timeout from the daily grind of a working week only to suffer the grind of an uphill for the rush of the downhill.  It’s great for fitness and allows me to push myself to the limits or take it easy with my daughter in tow.  Having a cold beer with the lads after a long ride is pure satisfaction.

Club rides – Edd Ballinger

Edd past the point of no return at WhitfordWhy do you ride MTB?

Because it’s fun. Fun to get away from the city and enjoy our beautiful countryside, fun to ride to the top of  the hill, admire the view, soak up the endorphin rush, then even more fun on the way back down. Fun to clean that bit of track that usually catches you out. Fun to ride with friends, and to meet new friends. And of course, fun to have a beer and a feed afterwards!

I ride MTB because there is nothing much better than nailing a flowing section of single-track.

Jeremy Smart

Jeremy and some friendsWhy do you ride MTB?

It’s for the ladies and the beer, road trips, races, transport, people, fitness, bikes, girls in spandex, drinking, riding, new riding locations, crashing, but mostly I ride because I love it.

I’m in to long climbs, nice singletrack and short travel suspension. I ride a mountain bike for the fitness and for spending time with like minded people.
